BEFORE WE CAN PROCEED, A SOLAR PV SYSTEM MUST MEET THESE REQUIREMENTS
IN ORDER TO CREATE AND SELL CARBON CREDITS
The solar PV system must have a gross nameplate capacity of 5,000 kW DC or less.
The solar PV system must be located in Alberta.
The solar PV system must have proof of ownership.
The solar PV system has signed an interconnection agreement with a utility. (this proves you are a micro-generator)
The solar PV system must have been installed after January 2, 2012
The micro-generator must not have relinquished or waived ownership of their emissions reductions or renewable energy attributes
in the form of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) or other instrumentsThe solar PV system must not have used the following funding/financing programs:
Any grant from Emissions Reduction Alberta (ERA)
Change Homes for Climate - Solar Program (Edmonton Solar Rebate)
Residential and Commercial Solar Program (EEA or NDP Grant)
Post-2019 Alberta Municipal Solar Program (MCCAC)
Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs)
Building Energy Retrofit Accelerator (Edmonton)
City of Medicine Hat HAT Smart Program (if connected on or after January 1, 2022)
What is Re(source)?
We are a carbon offset development company that enables owners of small-scale solar PV (solar panels) installations (under 5MW in generation capacity) to create carbon offsets from their solar PV systems. We also facilitate the sale of these carbon offsets to buyers in Alberta’s carbon market.
The value of the offsets generated by a particular solar PV system depends on a variety of factors but with Re(source), a 10 kW capacity system may yield around $6,003.82 worth of carbon offsets over the next ten years.
Re(source) then takes a 30% Administration Fee (this percentage is subject to change with our goal to keep our fee as low as possible) from the total offset revenue which means the owner of the solar PV system receives a total payout of $4,202.67
Can you tell me how much my solar PV system can make with carbon credits?
Click here to use our calculator for a rough estimate
If you would like to see a detailed breakdown, fill up this form and we will email you a custom carbon credit revenue estimate specifically for your system.
What are the next steps?
We will send you our user agreement for you to review prior to onboarding your solar PV system to our carbon offset platform.
We will need you to provide the following information to start creating your carbon offsets:
a signed interconnection agreement
An electricity bill issued after the date of your signed interconnection agreement and displays your:
Customer Account Number
Electrical Site ID #
Electrical Meter ID #
Solar installation invoice/agreement that shows your system has been fully paid for and displays the following:
System size (kW or MW)
Inverter manufacturer
A Single-line diagram
Read-only access to your inverter solar app (we may assist you with this process which takes little time to set up)
Conclusion
Once your system has been successfully onboarded to our carbon credit platform, you will automatically be creating carbon offsets as long as your solar PV system is producing renewable energy and is connected to the electricity grid.
All you need to do is wait for us to reach out to you once your carbon offset dividend is ready.
